United Way of Sevier County's Annual Dragon Boat Festival

CAPTAIN'S CORNER

Team Captains,

On behalf of the United Way of Sevier County, we want to extend our appreciation for your leadership and commitment to the Sixth Annual Drums on the Dam Dragon Boat Festival. Of the many people who work to make the event a success, there is no doubt that your efforts and responsibilities are the most critical.

Drums on the Dam is a tremendous amount of fun, but it is also a conduit which allows us to carry out and share our important mission of fighting for the health, education and financial stability for each person in our community. Andrew Carnegie articulated the concept of teamwork perfectly:

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

We are relying on you to marshall the resources of your individual team members so that they work together to raise money to continue the vision and mission of the United Way of Sevier County. Just like the sport of dragon boat racing, working together -- synchronization -- is critical to team success. It is important that each paddler does their share to contribute to the overall success of the team both in fundraising and on the water during race day.

We'll be using this area of the website as a Captain's Headquarters to communicate important information such as team practice times so please be sure to check it often. You'll also receive periodic emails when new information is posted on the website.

Thank you again for supporting the 2022 Drums on the Dam Dragon Boat Festival. We are grateful for your support.

Sincerely,

Amy Harper, United Way of Sevier County Executive Director
Kathy Voncannon, Drums Team Coordinator
